Kevin Mannix - The Untold Story
GROWING UP IN SOUTH AMERICA
Kevin grew up in South America - in Ecuador, Panama and Bolivia - where his father was in the Foreign Service. He saw firsthand how crime, hunger, and lack of health care can devastate families.
Kevin's dad developed great skills in running his own business and then successfully used those same principles in government to make a difference.

The Mannix Family heads for Panama in 1958.
Fighting For What is Right
When Kevin enrolled at the University of Virginia, the student body was all male. Kevin didn't think that was right so he fought for the admission of women and won. He met his wife Susanna in the first class of women students.
After studying at the University of Virginia, Kevin and Susanna Mannix decided to pick the state that would become their home. Kevin and Susanna picked Oregon, where Susanna started her career in nursing and Kevin began his law practice.
As an Oregon legislator Kevin holds the record for passing more reform legislation than any single legislator in Oregon's history. This includes passing reform legislation including landmark anti-stalking laws, expanded protections for our seniors, and laws that help Oregon businesses.
"I know it's his courage and determination that make him a great leader for Oregon." - Susanna Mannix
In 1993, Kevin tried to get the legislature to pass mandatory minimum sentencing for violent career criminals. When the legislature balked, Kevin took his ideas to the people through the initiative process and passed Measure 11.
But Kevin's record goes well beyond the legislature. As a small business owner Kevin has met more than 500 payrolls.

Kevin kept his promise to Oregonians to fight tax increases. He led the fight as State GOP Chairman to defeat Governor Kulongoski's $1.1 billion tax increase, which would have been the largest in state history (Measure 30).
On March 18, 2004, Americans for Tax Reform recognized Kevin for his "untiring efforts in the fight against higher taxes."
